Old St. John Lutheran Church has been recognized as an official Virginia 250 Place to Visit, part of the commonwealth-wide celebration of 250 years of Virginia history.

The church, established in 1799 by German Lutheran settlers in western Wythe County, is one of southwestern Virginia’s oldest congregations (read our history). The grounds include the historic sanctuary, the preserved Flohr House, and a cemetery with over 1,200 documented burials spanning from the 1730s to the present day.

We invite visitors to explore this historic site, located at 1650 N. 4th Street in Wytheville, right off Exit 70 on Interstate 81. Plan your visit.
